Create a Legacy

Work with our Hospice Foundation team to find a charitable plan that allows you to establish your philanthropic legacy in support of your interests that support the mission and values of Hospice & Palliative Care Buffalo.

Consider working with the Hospice Foundation team to create a named endowed fund that honors and recognizes your commitment to the mission of Hospice & Palliative Care Buffalo. Endowed funds ensure that programs and services are sustained, allowed to grow, and ultimately serve more people in our community. Your named fund will exist in perpetuity and a portion of the endowment’s earnings are distributed annually, while the rest in reinvested for financial growth. An endowment can be created with an initial investment of $25,000 and can be restricted to support any area of organization that is in line with your wishes.

You may be interested in making a gift with a bequest through your will or a living trust. The Hospice Foundation’s Swift Legacy Circle recognizes the generosity of patrons who share their commitment to do so.

A thoughtfully planned charitable gift helps us continue to carry out our mission for many generations to come, allowing us to be innovative in our efforts and sustain the comfort and compassion we provide for our community.

In addition, proper estate planning will allow you to achieve financial protection for your loved ones and may reduce gift and estate taxes.

We recommend consulting your attorney when making or amending your will. If you wish to make a provision including Hospice in your will, you may do so by asking your attorney to add the following language:

I bequeath $ ________ or ________% to the Hospice Foundation of WNY, Erie County (Federal ID # 22-3137812)

Free Will (www.freewill.com) works with non-profit organizations to assist individuals in crafting a legal will in 20 minutes or less. You can make these important plans from the comfort of your home and protect what is important to you.

If you have already designated Hospice & Palliative Care Buffalo in your will or trust, thank you! Please let us know, so we can thank you personally and officially welcome you into the Swift Legacy Circle.

Here are some other ways to consider making a commitment that may work best for you, while maximizing the impact of your gift:

Qualified retirement plan or life insurance
You can designate a percentage of your IRA, 401(k), 403(b) or other qualified retirement plan or life insurance policy to Hospice with a beneficiary designation form. When you donate retirement plan assets, your estate will be entitled to an estate tax deduction based on the value of the assets given to the Hospice Foundation.

IRA charitable rollover
If you’re older than 70½, you can fund gifts of up to $100,000 each year through this vehicle.

Stock (appreciated securities)
You can gift stock/appreciated securities to Hospice & Palliative Care Buffalo and enjoy tax savings, as opposed to selling the securities and donating cash later.

Real Estate and Collectibles
You can make a gift of real estate, artwork or other valuable assets to the Hospice Foundation.
