Turning Gratitude Into Support

Why We Give

Committed to Our Mission

Since our inception, we’ve touched more lives each year - reaching nearly 5,000 individuals last year alone. Our quality scores consistently rank among the top in the nation, a testament to our unwavering commitment to our mission. However, as reimbursement for our programs diminishes, we’re asked to do more with less. To maintain the high standards of our care, we increasingly rely on the support of our community. Millions of dollars from our Foundation are directly allocated to sustaining our clinical operations, so that families can feel freed from some of the burdens of everyday caregiving with a support team that includes medical care, social work, spiritual care, and expressive therapies, such as massage.

Your Contributions

Your contributions to Hospice & Palliative Care Buffalo (HPCB) have never been more crucial. They empower us to continue providing exceptional care and ensuring that each patient’s journey is as comfortable and meaningful as possible during their most vulnerable moments. Your support and advocacy is very much appreciated as it is essential to our continued success and the well-being of those we serve. They both demonstrate a belief in the transformative impact that hospice care can have on patients and their families. When people give of themselves in this way, they are creating a legacy. A legacy is about what you leave behind, as well as the impact that you make while you’re here. Legacy means different things to different people, and there are many ways to leave a legacy.

Jean McGee's Legacy

Jean's story is a powerful testimony for hospice care, demonstrating how the program can restore quality of life in the midst of terminal illness. Jean’s legacy lies in her courage to speak out, to give back, and to illuminate a path for others navigating similar hardships. Through her, countless individuals learn that with the right support; dignity, comfort, and hope are always within reach, even during life’s most challenging moments. Legacies come in many different forms and vary from person to person and their meanings have different outcomes. Jean’s legacy was to give back by sharing what she knew about Hospice with as many people as possible. If she could help just one person, then her job was accomplished.

A Testament

Jean McGee’s story is a testament to resilience, faith, and the power of compassionate care. Diagnosed with lung cancer in 2019, Jean faced months of chemotherapy and radiation, only to find the side effects unbearably taxing. The intense pain, along with constant emergency room visits and hospital stays, left her with little quality of life. As Jean struggled with her illness, she encountered a representative from Hospice & Palliative Care Buffalo during a follow-up appointment at her care facility. When asked if she would consider hospice care, Jean, guided by hope and faith, saw it as a choice that was best for her and it marked a pivotal change in her journey. HPCB helped manage Jean’s pain, which allowed her to regain control over her life, and remain active. She had a restored sense of dignity and purpose that her cancer had threatened to take away.
