Charlotte & Dr. Donald Shedd Charity Care
Helping the uninsured or under insured
Hospice is a Medicare benefit, however, some of Hospice & Palliative Care Buffalo patients do not qualify for this benefit if they are either uninsured or under insured.
Providing Crucial Funds
The Charlotte & Dr. Donald Shedd Charity Care Fund was created by Hospice co-founder Charlotte Shedd’s husband Don after her passing in 2007. This fund is designed to help offset the burden of medical expenses incurred by families in financial need.
Recognized as a necessity since the beginning, these funds are crucial to those is our community who do not have some of the traditional means of coverage. The Charlotte & Dr. Donald Shedd Charity Care Fund allows us to offer the same quality and breadth of services to patients and families without insurance as those who are covered by insurance.
Valuable Programs
Thanks to the Charlotte & Dr. Donald Shedd Charity Care Fund, these services include such valuable programs and services that include expressive therapies, like art, music, and massage as well as grief and spiritual support.
A Gift to Patients and Their Families
We are so very grateful to Charlotte and Dr. Donald Shedd for not only their tireless hours of sacrifice as they worked to get the Hospice movement underway with volunteers, so that a foundation could be built and flourish into the important mission Hospice & Palliative Care Buffalo is today, but also for their establishment of the important fund that provides the necessary charity care to those in need.
