John Wabick, vice president of West Herr Automotive Group, Hospice CEO, Flint Besecker, and Cheektowaga Town Supervisor, Mary Holtz, today, June 2, officially dedicated a newly renovated home at 47 Hawthorne Ave. in Cheektowaga as the West Herr/Hospice Buffalo Guest House.
The 3-bedroom Victorian style home was purchased by Hospice last year and renovated to assist Hospice family members needing short-term accommodations near the Hospice campus so that they can visit with their loved one. The guest house will feature the West Herr name in honor of the company's longstanding commitment to Hospice Buffalo.
Since opening in April, the guest house has been utilized by five families, with the average stay being about seven days. Accommodations at the guest house are free.
Hospice Buffalo provides medical care, emotional and spiritual support to individuals with life-limiting illness and their families. The agency began caring for patients in 1978 and today cares for more than 3,900 patients a year in homes, hospitals, area nursing facilities, and the Mitchell Campus in Cheektowaga.
