Hospice Buffalo to Hold Volunteer Open House April 10

                The community is invited to Hospice Buffalo's Volunteer Open House on Tuesday, April 10 from 9:00 a.m. - 12 noon or from 3:00 - 6:00 p.m. at the Hospice Mitchell Campus located at 225 Como Park Blvd. in Cheektowaga.  Whether you are looking for a way to give back to your community, or you are a youth needing service hours, Hospice Buffalo has a volunteer opportunity for you.

                 Both short-term and long-term openings are available to fit your interest, skills and availability. Opportunities for families and friends to volunteer together are also available. Administrative Service volunteers work with Hospice's support staff including helping with phone calls, serving coffee in the Campus Comfort Café, baking, filing and other special services. Special Event volunteers assist the Hospice Foundation of WNY staff to raise awareness and funds in the community. The event volunteers help with fundraisers large and small.

                Direct care volunteers provide support to caregivers by sitting with patients and talking, listening, reading or sharing hobbies.  The volunteer may also run errands or provide transportation.  Light housekeeping or meal preparation may also be requested. Direct care volunteers assist children and adults cared for by the agency's medical programs that include Hospice Buffalo, Home Care Buffalo/Essential Care for Children home care program, a Hospice Inpatient Unit and a  Hospice residence located in Cheektowaga.
