Cheektowaga, NY Jan. 26, 2011 - The Board of Directors of Gilda's Club Western New York (WNY) has named Buffalo native Margaret (Peg) Brady, RN, to the position of executive director, succeeding Mary Beth Karr, who resigned last September.
"We are so pleased to have Peg Brady as our new Executive Director," said Jock Mitchell, chair of the board of Gilda's Club WNY. "Her healthcare experience and her warm and caring spirit make her the perfect person to lead Gilda's Club Western New York."
Prior to assuming her new post, Ms. Brady was The Center for Hospice & Palliative Care's (CHPC) liaison with Gilda's Club WNY. Membership is free of charge to people at any stage of their experience with cancer. Through participation in groups, lectures, workshops and social events, members build social and emotional support and learn to live with cancer. Gilda's Club WNY is a partner of The Center for Hospice & Palliative Care, one of the nation's largest hospice and palliative care programs, located in Cheektowaga, NY. Gilda's Club WNY is an affiliate of the Cancer Support Community, and serves the eight counties of Western New York.
In addition to serving as Gilda's Club WNY executive director, Ms. Brady will also lead Life Transitions Center, a CHPC affiliate, as its executive director.
