"You matter to the last moment of your life, and we will do all we can, not only to help you die peacefully, but to live until you die."
- Dame Cicely Saunders
The Founders Society was created in 2004 to recognize outstanding leadership in annual giving that benefits the patients and families served by
The Center for Hospice & Palliative Care. With a gift of $5,000, $10,000 or more annually you will be recognized for your truly outstanding generosity and support of the hospice mission in Erie County.
The Founders Society honors Dame Cicely Saunders, a remarkable person whose dedication and commitment to the dying changed the face of health care throughout the world. Dame Saunders was the original pioneer of the modern hospice movement who dedicated her entire life to improving end-of-life care, along with revolutionizing the way in which society cares for the ill, the dying and the bereaved. The Founders Society also honors Hospice Buffalo's founder, Charlotte Shedd.

The Jack & Pauline Klosterman Society recognizes donors who generously donate $1,000 - $4,999 to support the mission of The Center for Hospice & Palliative Care. The Klosterman Society is in honor of Jack Klosterman and in memory of his wife, Pauline. In 1990, Pauline was diagnosed with cancer and ten years later she passed away in Hospice care. In gratitude for his wife's care, Jack became a donor and board member of the Hospice Foundation.
"I will forever be grateful for the care Pauline received. I believe strongly in the work
and mission of Hospice and I am proud to be associated with the organization." -
Jack Klosterman
