Storm Clouds and Rainbows

A support group for children, teens and their caregivers after the death of a loved one. This 6-week program meets Monday evenings from 6:30 - 8 p.m. at Gilda's Club WNY located at 1140 Delaware Ave., Buffalo. Total cost is $99 (includes 6 week session for one adult and one child). Planet Kid/Planet Teen

This Is a therapeutic respite program for children ages 5-13 and teens age 12-18 who have lost a loved one. Movies, pizza, creative activities, and an opportunity to share feelings and loss. Facilitated by a professional bereavement counselor. Caregivers get a break while children attend. New dates for 2012 coming soon. Voyagers...Help on the Journey

Camp Blue Skies

Camp Blue Skies is a day camp experience that offers activities and time with grief counselors to help kids make sense of their feelings about the death of a loved one. 

The camp welcomes children and teens, age 7 through 16, in Western New York who have experienced the death of a loved one three months to three years prior to the beginning of camp. There is a small registration fee to attend the camp. The day camp will run August 13 - 17, 2012 and will include bother therapeutic interventions and wellness activities as well as trips to various locations throughout the week. Caregivers will attend 2 sessions; these sessions will include a family night held prior to the beginning of camp and also at the end.

Camp Blue Skies coincides with Life Transitions Center's Storm Clouds & Rainbows, a 6-week support group for bereaved children ages 5-17. For those children whose loved one is terminally ill, the Center also offers the support group Shelter From the Storm.
