Services for Children

Storm Clouds & Rainbows is a support group for children and their parents or caretakers after the death of a loved one. Children between the ages of 5 and 17 are placed in age-appropriate groups where story telling, games, art, books, and music are utilized. The group meets for eight consecutive weeks in the evening at the Life Transitions Center. Participants must talk with the group facilitator before attending. The fee is $ 99.00 for one (1) adult and one (1) child, $ 25.00 for each additional child, $ 15.00 for each additional adult. Registration is required.

Planet Kid is a therapeutic respite program for children ages 5-13 who have lost a loved one. Movies, pizza, creative activities, and an opportunity to share feelings and loss. Facilitated by a professional bereavement counselor. Caregivers get a break while children attend. $10 per child. To register call Jim Grande at 836-6460, ext. 103.

Camp Blue Skies 2009

Camp Blue Skies is an overnight camp experience that offers activities and time with grief counselors to help kids make sense of their feelings about the death of a loved one. This year's camp will take place September 26th - 27th, 2009 at Cradle Beach Camp, 8038 Old Lakeshore Rd., Angola.

The camp welcomes children and teens, age 7 through 16, in Western New York who have experienced the death of a loved one three months to three years prior to the beginning of camp. There is a small registration fee to attend the camp. Transportation to and from Cradle Beach Camp, meals for both days, activity supplies and accommodations will be provided.

Camp Blue Skies offers indoor and outdoor activities and a memorial service so that bereaved children may connect with others who have had similar experiences.

Camp Blue Skies coincides with Life Transitions Center's Storm Clouds & Rainbows, an 8-week support group for bereaved children ages 5-18. For those children whose loved one is terminally ill, the Center also offers the support group Shelter From the Storm.
