Mary & Ralph C. Wilson Counseling Center
The New Home for Life Transitions Center and Essential Care for Children
Hospice Buffalo began landscape preparation for the new Mary & Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Counseling Center on Sept. 29, 2006. The Center will be the new home for Life Transitions Center (Western New York's largest grief counseling center) and Essential Care for Children, the pediatric home-care program of Hospice Buffalo.
Hospice Foundation trustee, Mary Wilson, and her husband Ralph Wilson, Jr., owner of the Buffalo Bills, attended the groundbreaking. Last May, the Wilsons announced a $ 500,000 lead gift to help fund the $ 2.2 million building project.
The Counseling Center will offer supportive counseling and bereavement services for children, adults and families who have been impacted by serious illness and loss. Hospice Buffalo's family bereavement services will also be provided in the new center.
The 9,200 square foot one-story building is expected to be completed by May of 2007. It will also include a beautiful therapeutic garden for relaxation and children's activities.
